2023 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION: ST Jonathan Kim,...Kim, a Fredericksburg, Virginia, native, ranked ninth in the Big Ten with 13 field goals, with seven of those coming from 40-plus yards, including four of 50-plus yards. He boomed the longest field goal in the Big Ten and second-longest in the FBS this season with a 58-yarder at Iowa as time expired in the first half. It was also the longest field goal in Kinnick Stadium history and the fourth-longest in program history. Kim kicked two of the top six and three of the top nine longest field goals in the Big Ten, with a 53-yarder at Ohio State (11/11) and a 52-yarder vs. Richmond (9/9).

Additionally, Kim has four of the top 15 and five of the top 20 in the conference, adding a 50-yarder vs. Nebraska (11/4) and a 47-yarder in the season opener vs. Central Michigan. He had at least one field goal in nine of the 12 games, part of 13-of-18 for the season, including 6-of-6 on field goals of 30-39 yards, 3-of-5 from 40-49 and 4-of-7 on 50-plus yards with the career-long 58-yarder. 2023 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION: Cal Haladay,...Redshirt junior linebacker Cal Haladay led the team in tackles for the second consecutive year with 91 (7.6 avg.), tied for seventh most in the Big Ten during the regular season. In addition, he tied for third on the team with 5.5 tackles for loss. He has 307 total tackles for his career in 41 games, which ranks 18th in school history. Haladay led the Big Ten in tackles per game last season (10.0 avg.; 120 total). During the third quarter at Iowa on Sept. 30, Haladay tied a school record with the third defensive touchdown of his career as he returned a fumble 42 yards for a scoop-and-score in the third quarter against the Hawkeyes.

He had two interception returns for touchdowns in 2021 (30 yards vs. Indiana and 78 yards vs. Pitt in Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl). Haladay is the fourth Spartan in school history to score three defensive touchdowns, joining RJ Williamson (2012-15), Shilique Calhoun (2012-15) and T.J. Turner (1997-2000). He led the team and ranked tied for fifth in the Big Ten with a career-high four interceptions during the regular season. Mangham recorded a pick in back-to-back games (at Minnesota, vs. Nebraska), and also had interceptions against Washington and Rutgers. 2023 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION: Nathan Carter,...Redshirt sophomore running back Nathan Carter ranked seventh in the Big Ten rushing in the regular season, averaging 66.5 yards per game (798 total). He also ranked third in the conference in carries (185) and 15th in all-purpose yards (901; 75.1 ypg), and led the team with four rushing touchdowns. The UConn transfer rushed for 100 yards in three games, including a season-high 113 yards on 18 carries in his debut against Central Michigan in Week 1.

He had 111 yards on 19 carries vs. Richmond in Week 2 and ran for 108 yards on a season-high 20 carries at Iowa in Week 5. Carter became the first Spartan since Jehuu Caulcrick in 2007 to score three touchdowns in a single quarter after running for three scores (2 yards, 44 yards, 6 yards) in the third quarter of the 45-14 win over Richmond in Week 2. Unfortunately, Samac suffered a season-ending injury in the first half at Indiana on Nov. 18. 2023 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION: J.D. Duplain,...J.D. Duplain, a native of Strongsville, Ohio, started 42 consecutive games at left guard to close out his Spartan career, the second-longest streak by an offensive lineman in school history (Shane Hannah with 44 from 1991-94). Duplain's 47 starts overall are also second most in MSU history by an offensive lineman (record: Joel Foreman with 49 from 2008-11).

The four-year letterwinner played in a total of 53 career games for the Spartans from 2019-23; he started five games as a true freshman in 2019, then five more during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. 2023 ALL-BIG TEN SECOND TEAM: Ryan Eckley, Michigan State,...Eckley, a native of Lithia, Florida, ranked second in the Big Ten Conference and seventh in the FBS with his 46.8-yard punting average, which was the fifth-longest average in MSU single-season history. Named to the Ray Guy Midseason Award Watch List, Eckley also ranked second in the Big Ten in 50-plus yard punts (23) and punts inside the 20 (24). He also had four punts of 60-plus yards and 15 inside the 10-yard line.

Eckley ended the season on a strong note by pinning at least one inside the 20 in each of the last six games, including 15 punts inside the 20 in the last five games. He saved one of his best performances for last, booming a season-high six punts for 50-plus yards in the regular-season finale vs. Penn State for a 54.0-yard average, including two of 60-plus yards, highlighted by his final punt of the night going for 63 yards. - Michigan State Football

Receiver Alante Brown and offensive lineman Hunter Anthony are not listed on the team's online roster after both saw steady roles in 2022. Brown collected the third most catches (16) among NU wideouts last season while piling up 191 receiving yards across 12 games. Anthony, who transferred from Oklahoma State a year ago, appeared in 11 contests along the O-line and special teams while starting at right tackle against Purdue.

Anthony has played five college seasons and earned his degree last year. Brown - a former quarterback from Chicago who went to prep school for a fall at St. Thomas More in Connecticut - joined the Huskers in the 2020 class and served as a return man for kickoffs while growing into a larger role on offense. He made 22 career receptions for 262 yards in 30 games (11 starts). The University of Miami has secured its eighth scholarship commitment from the transfer portal, this one a former Iowa cornerback. Graduate transfer Terry Roberts, a 5-10, 180-pound fifth-year senior this past season, announced his decision Monday evening on social media. The Hurricanes are especially in need of cornerbacks, as five-star prospect Cormani McClain flipped his commitment last week from UM to Colorado. Three former UM cornerbacks recently transferred: Al Blades Jr., Isaiah Dunson and Khamauri Rogers.

Roberts, 22, played in five games this past season but reportedly was sidelined by an injury leading to the Oct. 22 Ohio State game. He had three starts last season and amassed 13 tackles (nine solo) with one interception and three pass breakups. He came to Iowa in 2018 as a three-star defensive back out of Erie, Pennsylvania's Cathedral Prep. He redshirted his first season. Roberts finished his Iowa career with 47 tackles and four starts in 33 games played. He had seven pass breakups and two interceptions. - Miami Herald

Michigan State football's linebacker room continues to get good news. Aaron Brule on Tuesday announced he plans to return to the Spartans for his sixth season of eligibility. That comes three days after Jacoby Windmon announced his return for a fifth season Saturday. Brule transferred to MSU from Mississippi State last winter, arriving with fellow New Orleans native Windmon, who transferred from UNLV. After a slow start to the season, Brule emerged after Windmon and seven others were suspended for their roles in an altercation at Michigan on Oct. 29.

Over MSU's final four games, the 6-foot-2, 242-pound Brule posted 18 of his 30 tackles and registered three of his four sacks as defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton - also in his first season coaching the linebackers - began using a variety of different packages. Brule had 4.5 of his 6.5 tackles for a loss down the stretch as well, along with a fumble recovery, a pass breakup and three of his five QB hurries for the season. - Lansing State Journal

On a day when Michigan State football welcomed its newest players, Mel Tucker gave some glimpses into some of the decisions his current Spartans are making for their future. Most notably that offensive linemen Nick Samac and J.D. Duplain both plan to return for their COVID-waiver extra seasons, along with defensive end Khris Bogle. Yet there are a few others who Tucker did not mention, among them linebacker Jacoby Windmon and running back Elijah Collins.

"Some of these guys are still deciding, and we've got a couple of guys that I think after they see what we did today are gonna really want to come back and be a part of it," Tucker said Wednesday. "So we'll have to see." Windmon could be the biggest question mark, after a stellar start that saw him earn three Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors and two national weekly awards at both defensive end and linebacker before he was suspended for the final four games for a postgame altercation in the Michigan Stadium tunnel. The former UNLV transfer is facing one count of misdemeanor assault and battery in Washtenaw County for the Oct. 29 incident. - Lansing State Journal

2022 RAY GUY AWARD FINALIST (BEST COLLEGIATE PUNTER): Bryce Baringer, Michigan State,...Michigan State graduate senior Bryce Baringer has been named one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award, the Augusta Sports Council announced on Tuesday. The award has been presented to the nation's best collegiate punter since 2000. The winner of the 2022 Ray Guy Award will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards show on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. on ESPN. Cincinnati's Mason Fletcher and Rutgers' Adam Korsak are the two other finalists. Earlier on Tuesday, Baringer became the first Spartan to win the Eddleman-Fields Big Ten Punter of the Year. He was also named first-team All-Big Ten by the coaches to become the first Spartan punter to earn first-team all-league honors since the late Mike Sadler (2012 and 2013).

Baringer leads the FBS in punting with a 49.0-yard average, which is currently an MSU single-season record and the second-best average in Big Ten history. Jarek Broussard's stop with Michigan State football turned out to be a short one. The running back on Tuesday announced his intention to enter the NFL draft after one season with the Spartans. He had one season of eligibility remaining. The 5-foot-9, 195-pound Dallas native predominantly served as MSU's No. 2 running back behind fellow transfer Jalen Berger this fall. Broussard finished third on the team with 298 rushing yards on 63 attempts and scored three touchdowns in 12 games, adding four catches for 48 yards.

He posted season-highs of 81 rushing yards, 15 carries and two touchdowns in the Spartans' Sept. 10 win over Akron, then remained mostly dormant until getting 11 carries for 80 yards in a Nov. 12 win over Rutgers. Broussard arrived during the offseason as a transfer from Colorado, where he suffered ACL injuries that kept him off the field in 2018 and 2019. In the six-game 2020 season, Broussard won Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year honors with 895 rushing yards, an average of 162.6 per game that ranked third in the Football Bowl Subdivision, and five touchdowns. - Lansing State Journal
